Description
This activity will touch on thoracic frozen sections and the pitfalls associated with them. Emphasis will be laid on adenocarcinoma and its mimics, using examples from recently published literature. Practical points on handling of thoracic frozen sections in a variety of scenarios will be provided. Most importantly, the learner will be provided with a list of findings that are helpful in differentiating between benign and malignant lesions at frozen section.
This activity was originally presented at Pathology on the Coast in 2025.
Objectives
After completing this activity, you should be able to:
- Identify the features that help to distinguish between lung adenocarcinoma and its mimic at frozen section.
- Recognize pitfalls of thoracic frozen sections.
- Utilize practical skills to handle thoracic frozen sections in a variety of settings.
