Description
Increase your ability to design new processes, modify existing processes, minimize mistakes, and manage your risks.
This course provides methodology focused on five main categories of mistake-proofing tactics and shows examples of these tactics from the domain of laboratory medicine.
It includes video commentary by CAP member pathologists with experience using Lean and other process improvement techniques.
Objectives
After completing this activity, you should be able to:
- Follow a methodology to analyze a process and eliminate or minimize mistakes.
- Recognize categories of tactics to eliminate or minimize mistakes.
- Differentiate “knowledge in the head” from “knowledge in the world.”
- Differentiate “culture of individual excellence” from “culture of process excellence.”
- Differentiate errors from defects.
- Differentiate “error of judgment” from “error of execution.”
