MC4-C 2022: Transition to Waived Molecular Testing-Group A Streptococcus and Beyond

Description
Staff from laboratories participating in the MC4-C 2022 Urine Colony Count Combination Surveys program can individually earn CE credit by reading the Participant Summary (mailed to the institution or accessed online) and answering online learning assessment questions. The online learning assessment questions are designed to reinforce concepts and discussion points presented in the reading.
Objectives
After completing this activity, you should be able to:
- Discuss the main technologies used for point-of-care testing (POCT).
- Describe the advantages and disadvantages of molecular microbiology tests versus traditional assays.
- List current applications of molecular microbiology tests in the point-of-care (POC) setting.
- Discuss and address some potential problems of molecular microbiology tests in the POC setting.
