EPO-B 2022: Hormone Therapy in Transgender/Gender Nonconforming Adults

All laboratory personnel from a laboratory that participated in the EPO-B 2022 Erythropoietin Surveys program may complete this activity.

Description
Staff from laboratories participating in the EPO-B 2022 Erythropoietin Surveys program can individually earn CE credit by reading the Participant Summary (mailed to the institution or accessed online) and answering online learning assessment questions. The online learning assessment questions are designed to reinforce concepts and discussion points presented in the reading.

Objectives
After completing this activity, you should be able to:

  1. Explain current recommendations in the approach to gender-affirming hormone therapy.
  2. Describe recommended sex hormone reference ranges used in the monitoring of gender-affirming hormone therapy.
  3. Explain current recommendations for monitoring gender-affirming hormone therapy and preventative measures to reduce the risk of adverse outcomes.
  4. Discuss common potential laboratory challenges related to hormone measurement in patients receiving gender-affirming hormone therapy.
