Intended Audience
This Multidisciplinary Breast Pathology (MBP) activity is intended for pathologists participating in the MBP program as well as pathologists looking for timely information on pathologic-radiologic correlation when interpreting breast biopsies.
Rereleased Activity
This activity was originally released as Diagnosing and Classifying Hyperplasia, Atypical Hyperplasia and Low Grade DCIS and was available between July 1, 2020, and June 30, 2023. The content was reviewed in November 2022.
Description
This activity provides an overview of how to properly distinguish usual ductal hyperplasia from atypical ductal hyperplasia and low-grade ductal carcinoma in situ, as well as flat epithelial atypia from various columnar cell lesions. The clinical significance and current management of these diagnoses will also be discussed.
Objectives
After completing this activity, you should be able to:
- Distinguish usual ductal hyperplasia from atypical ductal hyperplasia and low-grade ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS).
- Distinguish flat epithelial atypia (FEA) from various columnar cell lesions.
