CGL-A 2023: Von Willebrand Factor Testing

All laboratory personnel from a laboratory that participated in the CGL-A 2023 Coagulation (Limited) Surveys program may complete this activity.

Description
Staff from laboratories participating in the CGL-A 2023 Coagulation (Limited) Surveys program can individually earn CE credit by reading the Participant Summary (mailed to the institution or accessed online) and answering online learning assessment questions. The online learning assessment questions are designed to reinforce concepts and discussion points presented in the reading.

Objectives
After completing this activity, you should be able to:

  1. Understand the normal physiologic role of von Willebrand factor (VWF).
  2. Explain the importance of VWF in relation to von Willebrand disease (VWD).
  3. List and explain the differences between VWD types and the testing methods currently in clinical use.
  4. List the current US FDA-approved methods for VWF testing.

CE (Continuing Education for nonphysicians): The CAP designates this educational activity for a maximum of 1 credit(s) of continuing education. Participants should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

This activity is approved for continuing education credit in the states of California and Florida.

The American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Board of Certification (BOC) Certification Maintenance Program (CMP) accepts this activity to meet the continuing education requirements.
