Description
Von Willebrand disease (VWD) is the most common inherited bleeding disorder; however accurate diagnosis can be complicated. Moreover, therapeutic management relies heavily on the clinical and laboratory assessment of patients for whom this diagnosis has been made. This case study addresses the principles and interpretation of laboratory testing for the diagnosis and subclassification of VWD and currently available therapeutic options.

Objectives
After completing this activity, you should be able to:

1. Recognize clinical features of Von Willebrand disease (VWD).
2. Describe principles of laboratory testing for VWD.
3. Compare results of laboratory testing in various subtypes of VWD.
4. Review treatment options for management of VWD.
