Description
In pretransfusion testing, the antibody screen and panel may show a panagglutination pattern due to a variety of causes. Most panagglutinins are benign and do not cause hemolysis in vivo when patients are transfused. However, it is critical for blood banks to determine the cause of panagglutination to ensure safe and timely transfusion of these patients. Explore strategies for distinguishing key causes of panagglutination and implications for safely transfusing patients with panagglutination.

Objectives
After completing this activity, you should be able to:

1. List the advantages and disadvantages of tube, gel (column agglutination), and solid-phase red cell adherence methodologies for antibody evaluation.
2. Select the appropriate tests to determine the etiology of panagglutination.
3. Create a blood bank protocol to manage patients with panagglutination due to monoclonal anti-CD38 therapy.
