Difficult Differential Diagnoses in Genitourinary Pathology Mimickers

Pricing: Member: $70.00 NonMember: $91.00 Junior Member: $10.00

Intended Audience
This anatomic pathology activity is intended for practicing pathologists, as well as pathology trainees.

Description
This activity keeps you abreast of diagnostic learning by addressing challenging scenarios and contemporary differential diagnosis for a broad array of genitourinary specimens relevant to pathologists in practice and in training. Using a case presentation with an organ-based approach, the activity will address evolving concepts in old and emerging entities, diagnostic pitfalls, and controversies in numerous genitourinary cancer subtypes. A large number of images in a tumor board format will expose participants to a wide spectrum of lesions. Significant emphasis will be placed on contemporary updates, interpretation of diagnostic pitfalls, exclusion of benign mimickers, and application of ancillary studies. Additionally, this activity will emphasize key pathologic reporting parameters that are of greatest value to clinicians in the context of clinical application and management.

This activity was originally presented at CAP22.

Objectives
After completing this activity, you should be able to:

  1. Utilize a pattern-based approach and appropriate ancillary studies in the differential diagnosis of renal neoplasms.
  2. Recognize common problems in diagnosis of testicular tumors and utilize ancillary techniques in the evaluation of the genitourinary specimen.
  3. Recognize the most common pitfalls of atypical urothelial lesions and potential benign mimickers.
  4. Address common challenges in the differential diagnosis of prostatic adenocarcinoma.
