Intended Audience
This adaptive learning activity is intended for pathologists who are new to laboratory management responsibilities


Description

This activity introduces the participant to fundamental skills in managing laboratory operations including staffing qualified personnel, coordinating laboratory teams, assessing test system logistics, implementing document control, and selecting test venues and reference labs.

In addition, this adaptive activity offers a unique learner experience. By answering a series of questions that determine your existing knowledge, you will be prescribed a customized pathway that focuses on individual learning needs.

Objectives
After completing this activity, you should be able to:

  1. Understand staffing requirements and models for effective staffing.
  2. Formulate effective staff evaluation practices while building a robust workplace culture.
  3. Describe how to review and optimize testing system logistics.
  4. Use the document control system to ensure that manuals reflect current practice and are utilized in the laboratory.
  5. Define general criteria for choosing an appropriate venue for testing.
  6. Develop criteria for selecting a reference laboratory.
