D6-C 2025: Diagnostic Stewardship in Respiratory Tract Infection Testing

Description
Staff from laboratories participating in the D6-C 2025 Rapid Group A Strep Antigen Detection Surveys program can individually earn CE credit by reading the Participant Summary (mailed to the institution or accessed online) and answering online learning assessment questions. The online learning assessment questions are designed to reinforce concepts and discussion points presented in the reading.

Objectives
After completing this activity, you should be able to:

  1. Recognize the primary elements of diagnostic stewardship.
  2. Recognize the role of diagnostic stewardship in limiting inappropriate antimicrobial use, further diagnostic workups, and other interventions.
  3. Describe how the characteristics of diagnostic tests impact diagnostic stewardship.
  4. Discuss implementations of diagnostic stewardship for influenza, COVID-19, RSV disease, and group A streptococcal pharyngitis.
