Description
Starting December 28, 2024, non-pathologist physicians and laboratory professionals seeking to qualify as CLIA Directors of moderate or high complexity laboratories will be required to complete 20 CME/CEU credits on the responsibilities of the laboratory director. Experience and educational requirements also apply to qualify as a laboratory director; details available in 42 CFR 493, Subpart M. (https://www.cms.gov/files/document/qso-24-03-clia.pdf)

Objectives
After completing this program, you should be able to:
- Understand change management principles, strategic planning tools, and data analysis to improve laboratory operations, justify resource needs, and enhance productivity.
- Implement effective communication strategies, teamwork principles, and leadership roles to facilitate collaboration, influence decision-making, and manage interpersonal issues within the laboratory setting.
- Understand the responsibilities of a laboratory director in all phases of laboratory testing, including pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical processes.
- Implement quality management programs, risk assessments, and regulatory compliance measures to ensure safe, efficient, and legally compliant laboratory operations.
