Description
Staff from laboratories participating in the K-B 2024 Ligand – General Surveys program can individually earn CE credit by reading the Participant Summary (mailed to the institution or accessed online) and answering online learning assessment questions. The online learning assessment questions are designed to reinforce concepts and discussion points presented in the reading.
Objectives
After completing this activity, you should be able to:
- Understand the development of prostate specific antigen (PSA) as a test for prostate cancer.
- List the factors that put men at high and low risk for prostate cancer.
- Define the conditions that can cause PSA elevations and how they may affect clinical evaluation.
- Describe the risks and benefits of PSA as a screening tool for prostate cancer.
- List and compare professional society recommendations for using PSA as a screening test for prostate cancer.
